‘Hopeful Advent’ – Reflection With The Bishop of Newcastle

19th December @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

FREE

Take a pause from your Christmas preparations to join Bishop Helen-Ann for a series of reflections with Compline this December, all sharing the theme of ‘Hopeful Advent’. The last of these reflections will take place at Newcastle Cathedral.

Advent is a season of expectation and preparation as the Church prepares to celebrate the coming of the light of Christ at Christmas.

When the Lord comes,
he will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness,
and will disclose the purposes of the heart.
Therefore in the light of Christ let us confess our sins.
cf 1 Corinthians 4.5

These evenings will also offer Complines as a time for quietness and reflection amidst the hustle and bustle of the season.

  • Tuesday 5 December at Hexham Abbey: “Hopeful Seeking”
  • Wednesday 13 December at St Michael’s, Alnwick: “Hopeful Sharing”
  • Tuesday 19 December at Newcastle Cathedral: “Hopeful Sending”

Each session starts at 7pm and ends with Compline by 8.30pm. This event is open to all and requires no pre-booking.
