Until recently, Lee served as Team Rector of the Epping Team Ministry and Area Dean and World Church Partnership Officer in Chelmsford Diocese, where he developed a strong connection with the Anglican Church in Kenya. He also served on the Diocesan Board of Education and as Chair of a large Multi-Academy Trust. Lee succeeds The Very Revd Dr Jane Hedges, who has been Interim Dean since January, following the retirement of The Very Revd Geoff Miller last year.
Newcastle Cathedral is one of a small number of English cathedrals that also act as a parish church. Through the acts of Collation and Induction, by which the Bishop will give him the spiritual and physical responsibilities for the parish, Lee will become Dean of Newcastle. He will then be installed in the Dean’s seat in the Cathedral Quire, dedicated to St Nicholas, signifying his place within the Cathedral community and the Diocese.
Please join us in asking for God’s blessing on Lee’s ministry as we celebrate this new beginning for him and all of the Cathedral community.

Please note: Café 16 in the Cathedral Refectory will close early at 3pm on Saturday 14 October, just before the service.
