Get in the spirit for Northern Pride with a joyous evening of pop/rock tunes performed by the North East’s largest and longest-running LGBTQIA+ choir.
This concert is an official ‘Satellite Event’ of the region’s annual pride festival – perfect for those looking to join the celebrations a little earlier. Click here for the full ‘Pride in the City’ programme, including a whole host of community events.
Since its formation in March 2011, Northern Proud Voices has continuously provided a safe and supportive place for its members to learn and perform music and share with others in a variety of public performances such as concerts, street singing, and other events throughout the year. The choir promotes a positive image of the LGBTQIA+ community by bringing together people of diverse ages, backgrounds, cultures, faiths and abilities to sing and perform.
Driven by a love of singing, the choir aims to reduce social exclusion and loneliness while enhancing mental wellbeing. At this concert, you can expect a setlist filled with feel-good and iconic tunes, including ‘Mr Blue Sky’ by ELO, ‘Tattoo’ by Loreen, and ‘It’s a Sin’ by The Pet Shop Boys.
Following the event, there will be plenty of opportunities to network and enjoy refreshments in the remarkable setting of the Cathedral nave.
