Patronal Festival of St Nicholas with Installation of Non-Residentiary Canons

6th December 2024 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

On St Nicholas Day, Durham Cathedral Choir will join our own to celebrate Newcastle Cathedral’s patron saint.

During this special service, we will also install seven new Non-Residentiary (Honorary) Canons. The College of Canons serve as ambassadors for the Cathedral, providing us with invaluable guidance on various matters, including how we can best support the wider work of mission and ministry across the Diocese of Newcastle.

We are pleased to welcome the following new members:

All services at Newcastle Cathedral are free to attend, with no pre-booking required. This service will also be live-streamed via our YouTube channel (see below).

Stay afterwards for refreshments served by the Friends of St Nicholas, a charitable group dedicated to supporting the Cathedral’s work. All are welcome to this service. Clergy and Readers who wish to robe are invited to contact office@newcastlecathedral.org.uk.

This year, the Church of England invites us to reflect on the serene heart of the Christmas story – Mary cradling the newborn Jesus, the Light of the World. In the midst of this busy time of year, discover moments of peace at our Advent and Christmas services.
