Lindy Gilliland, the Cathedral’s ‘Common Ground in Sacred Space’ National Lottery Heritage Fund Project Manager, explains how our historic transformation has been delivered in light of the pandemic; the challenges and surprises, and how important it is to protect this important historic building at the heart of Newcastle’s heritage.
Lindy will chat with some of the key partners who helped to solve some of the issues and protect the Cathedral’s treasured 900-year-old history.
Speakers |
Anthony Short, Site Foreman, at Historic Property Restoration Ltd, will talk about the skills and problem solving needed on this very special project – from moving over 150 one tonne ledger stones to laying a complex network of underground heating. |
Dr David Carrington, Founder and Managing Director at Skillington Workshop, will highlight some of the delicate conservation work that has been carried out on artefacts such as the 14th century ‘Unknown Knight’ effigy and the Cathedral’s numerous military memorials. |
Dan Rose, Designer and Director at Raskl Limited based in Newcastle’s Ouseburn Valley, explains the ideas behind his company’s designs for a new altar, ambo and choir stalls: furniture for the future that also celebrates the Cathedral’s rich history. |
In addition to their presentations there will be a chance to quiz our panel of experts further, so please have your questions ready.
