Embark on a journey through time and discover the fascinating history, rich traditions and legends surrounding St Nicholas, the patron saint of Newcastle Cathedral.
St Nicholas was a 4th-century bishop who, through selfless acts of kindness and generosity, laid the foundations for Santa Claus as we know him today. In this guided tour, you will encounter the Cathedral’s numerous sculptures and stained-glass windows that depict stories associated with his life.
Learn how the image of Santa Claus has evolved over the centuries and why this cathedral is dedicated to St Nicholas.
