Every Sunday during Advent, join us on a guided journey through time to uncover the fascinating history, traditions, and legends surrounding St Nicholas – the patron saint of Newcastle Cathedral.
Discover how a 4th-century bishop, remembered for his kindness and generosity, inspired the figure of Santa Claus we know today. Along the way, you’ll encounter sculptures and stained-glass windows that bring his remarkable story to life.
Learn how the image of Santa Claus has transformed across the centuries, and why this Cathedral honours St Nicholas’s name.
These tours are free to join, with a suggested donation of £7. Your support helps us care for the Cathedral, sustain our charitable work, and keep this historic place open for all.
