The Day of Pentecost comes fifty days after Easter Day and brings the Easter season to its joyful climax.
A major feast in the Church’s year, Pentecost recalls the gift of the Holy Spirit to the disciples, as told in the Acts of the Apostles. Filled with the Spirit, they were able to proclaim the good news of God’s love in many different languages to the crowds gathered in Jerusalem. For this reason, Pentecost is often called the “birthday” of the Church.
