A free opportunity for boys and girls in Years 2, 3 , 4, 5 and 6 to experience being a Cathedral Chorister for an afternoon.
We are now searching for our next generation of Cathedral Choristers. If your child enjoys singing and making music, there is an opportunity for them to gain an unparalleled musical education completely free of charge. We welcome boys and girls from schools across the North-East. Application to the choir is open to all, regardless of social, religious or financial background.
So that children and their parents can find out more about becoming a Newcastle Cathedral Chorister we are offering the Newcastle Cathedral Chorister Experience on Sunday 3rd July. This is a special opportunity for children in Years 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 and their parents to come to the Cathedral and get some small sense of what it’s like to be part of this elite team of young musicians.
Participants in the Newcastle Cathedral Chorister Experience will meet, warm up, and rehearse with the choristers, and will join the Cathedral Choir in singing a special service at 4pm, to which parents and families of the participants are all warmly invited. There is no need to have any previous experience or prepare for the day. We will teach participating children the song during the day, and all are very welcome.
Becoming a Cathedral Chorister is a life-changing experience. As well as rich musical benefits, being a chorister could help with your child’s concentration, reading skills, counting, and ‘problem solving’ skills. Singing also has proven health benefits. Register your child for the Newcastle Cathedral Chorister Experience and see whether this is something from which your child could benefit.
