Find out about and try on the ‘Coat of Hopes’ at a drop-in show and tell event after our Sunday Sung Eucharist service.
The Coat of Hopes, a patchwork pilgrim coat on an ongoing journey across Britain, will be displayed at Newcastle Cathedral from Tuesday 14 until Thursday 30 November 2023. This remarkable garment has been created, worn, and walked in by countless individuals during and after its initial pilgrimage in the lead-up to COP 26, the UN climate summit in Glasgow during autumn 2021. It is composed of pieces of blanket into which people have woven their grief, memories, prayers, and aspirations for the place they call home.
The coat’s stay in Newcastle coincides with COP 28 in Dubai, which takes place from 30 November until 12 December 2023.
