We Depend on Our Words – Pride Month Exhibition

29th May 2024 - 9th July 2024

“What is it that we human beings ultimately depend on? We depend on our words. We are suspended in language. Our task is to communicate experience and ideas to others” – Niels Bohr, Nobel Prize Winner.

Pride Month, celebrated every June, is a vibrant and inclusive occasion that honours the LGBTQ+ community, their history, achievements, and ongoing struggle for equality.

At Newcastle Cathedral, we recognise the importance of the Pride movement and its positive impact on our cultural heritage. This returning exhibition explores the connection between language and identity.

On Thursday 5 July at 7pm, the North East’s largest and longest-running LGBTQ+ community choir, Northern Proud Voices, will present a joyous evening of pop/rock tunes at the Cathedral. Click below to find out more.
