Since 1448 the Newcastle skyline has been graced by the Cathedral’s iconic Lantern Tower. For over 300 years, a fire was lit beneath the ‘crown spire’, helping to guide ships up the River Tyne at night.

Today the Cathedral strives to be a beacon of light for visitors navigating difficult circumstances in life. In everything we do, we seek to be a place of exploration and inspiration, a place that enlightens and brings joy; a port in the storm of the confusion of everyday life.

The Parish Giving Scheme (PGS) is a Direct Debit donation system that enables you to:

  • Donate monthly, quarterly or annually by Direct Debit
  • Sign up to inflation-proof giving annually
  • Enhance your gift to the parish by having Gift Aid at 25% added
  • Give anonymously if you prefer
  • Donate securely

At present, you can set up a Direct Debit to donate regularly to Newcastle Cathedral via a paper Direct Debit form – available to download below.

If you wish to set up your direct debit via the phone service, please have the following information to hand:

  • Personal bank account details
  • The name of the parish you wish to donate to – St Nicholas Cathedral
  • You will need to confirm if you want to increase your gift in line with inflation each year
  • Confirm if you are eligible for Gift Aid
  • The PGS code for your parish (usually 9 digits in length) * – 250625001

If you have any questions about this method of giving and would like to find out more, please email Neringa who will be on hand to help you.

Regular donations help us plan for the future. Just a few pounds a month make a huge difference. If you would like to set-up a standing order please contact the Cathedral’s Finance Manager, Mrs Neringa Baguckiene, by email or phone: 0191 232 1939.

Newcastle Cathedral is free to enter. However if everyone who visited contributed the suggested £5 donation, it would raise thousands! So please share what you can in our collection boxes or via our contactless donation point. Thank you if you have already done so – it is much appreciated!

If you are a UK tax payer, please ‘gift aid’ your cash or contactless donation by filling in one of our Gift Aid envelopes. This will increase your donation by 25% at no extra cost to you. Gift Aid envelopes are available at donation points in the Cathedral. If you make a contactless donation and would like the Cathedral to claim Gift Aid on your donation, please register your details with Swiftaid.

If you’d prefer to send us a cheque, please make it payable to ‘The Chapter of the Cathedral Church of St Nicholas’ and send to the Cathedral’s Finance Manager, Mrs Neringa Baguckiene, at Cathedral House, 42-44 Mosley Street, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 1DF.

With your help we can secure Newcastle Cathedral for future generations. Every donation, whatever contribution you can make, will be hugely appreciated. In these challenging times, if you’re not able to support us now, please do bear us in mind for the future.

…and don’t forget, if you’re a UK tax payer please Gift Aid your donation. If you do, every £1 you donate is worth £1.25 to us. Thank you!

We thank you in advance for your support and generosity.
