Hire the Cathedral

Situated only a few minutes’ walk from the city’s Central Train station, Newcastle Cathedral offers a range of unique and varied spaces available for hire. Our building is the perfect backdrop for any event, from business meetings to classical concerts. We can also put you in touch with our trusted suppliers when it comes to audio-visual, catering, interval refreshments, staging and lighting.

The Cathedral is available for hire during the day or in the evening, depending on which other activities are taking place in this vibrant place of worship.

Concerts and Performances

The Nave – the central open space at the heart of the Cathedral – can be transformed into the perfect venue for your concert or performance. The Nave has no fixed seating, meaning that our Front of House and Vergers Team can arrange chairs according to your requirements.

Performances usually happen in the ‘crossing’ – the area between the Nave and Quire, which provides excellent acoustics and an ideal focal point for your audience. In addition, a green room can be made available for performers, with rehearsals arranged on an event-by-event basis.

Corporate events

The Cathedral’s Nave can also be transformed to suit your corporate event’s needs, whether that’s for a dinner or conference. We also have a range of rooms available for smaller business meetings which can accommodate varying numbers.

Exhibitions, Fairs and Festivals

As well as hosting a range of performances, the Nave and surrounding areas of the Cathedral are ideally suited for exhibitions and festivals. In addition to our art and heritage exhibition programme, the Nave has also played host to flower festivals, craft fairs and food and drink expos.

Filming and Photography

The Cathedral and its surrounding grounds can make the perfect background for filming or commercial photography, with its adaptable and atmospheric spaces.

Private or Special Services

If you’d like to hold a special service with us, we have worked with various charities and fundraisers to arrange special services. We can also accommodate a private service in one of our many spaces dedicated to worship.
