Not Just a Pipe Dream: Newcastle Cathedral’s Organ Appeal – Initial Stages

First published: April 2024

The Cathedral’s organ plays a fundamental role in worship and the wider life of the Cathedral, from services, regular recitals and our school singing programme to community celebrations and commemorations.

Last rebuilt in 1981, the organ desperately needs restoration as ever-increasing faults affect its reliability, and only the talent and skill of our team keep the music playing.

We have a time-limited opportunity to deliver repairs.

Ahead of our Organ Appeal’s official grand launch during the summer, you can help us in these early stages to make our dream a reality and secure the organ’s future.

About our organ

The Cathedral organ accompanies choral services and large-scale special services. This magnificent instrument takes centre stage in our lunchtime Organ Recital Series, held every Monday at 1:05pm.
