Discover the Joy of Music with ‘Small Sounds

Starting on Thursday 10 October at 10am and recurring at the same time every week, our weekly Small Sounds sessions will offer a wonderful opportunity for young children to discover the joy of singing. These sessions will also equip adults with the tools to continue making music with their little ones at home.

These FREE drop-in sessions are designed for children aged 0-5 and their grown-ups. Come along for a fun-filled experience where your little ones can shake, rattle and roll as they explore music through songs and play. Led by our talented workshop leaders, Small Sounds will take families on an exciting journey of musical discovery, helping your children find their voices and experience the joy of singing.

There’s no need to attend every session, and no pre-booking is required for our Small Sounds sessions on Thursdays 10, 17 and 24 October at 10am. Simply head to Café 16 in the Cathedral Refectory, where the session leader will meet you. This is accessible via the East Entrance, which offers level access for buggies.

If you use Facebook and are interested in attending, please tell us you’re ‘Interested’ or ‘Going’ to give our workshop leaders a handy idea of how many to expect!

Why Early Years Music?

Music and the arts enrich young lives.

We are proud to be one of just six cathedrals in the UK selected by the Cathedral Music Trust for this inspiring project, created in response to research highlighting the need for more early years music-making opportunities.

Research shows that children who engage in music-making with their families build strong musical foundations, which can be nurtured as they grow. Parents and carers who continue musical activities at home also gain confidence, contributing to a happier, healthier family life.
