Faithful Judgements in Fertility

8 January – 4 February 2022

This exhibition explores the experiences of people of faith in their encounters with new reproductive and genetic technologies, and the religious, spiritual and moral dimensions of decision making.

A ‘chapbook’ of prayers has been created through collaboration with Canon Rachel Mann, who wrote the prayers, and artist Marianne Wilde.

A Century of Wedding Gowns

16 Feburary – 24 March 2022

An exhibition of wedding dress design through the decades. Guided tours with the collector and dressmaker, Kevin Thornhill will take place throughout the exhibition period.

A fashion show on Thursday 10 March will include even more dresses from this amazing collection.

Exploring the Lindisfarne Gospels

The Lindisfarne Gospels will be on display at Newcastle’s Laing Art Gallery from 17 September to 3 December 2022, on loan from the British Library. Newcastle Cathedral will be one of the many North East venues hosting events inspired by the display.

Tour and Draw

Uncover your inner artist through drawing and making, whilst discussing some of the incredible artworks in Newcastle Cathedral.

You’re invited to join a member of the Cathedral clergy for this informal and personalised tour of the Cathedral.

Learn about the people behind the Cathedral, the memories it holds and life in a contemporary church.

Family Tours

Tuesdays (during school holidays only), 2-2.30pm

Join us to explore secret spaces, try on special robes, hunt for dragons, and make amazing art.

This 30-minute interactive tour has been designed especially for children and their grown-ups.

Recommended for ages 3-11 but suitable for all. No need to book; meet at the Font.

Lantern Tower Tours

A chance to climb the 162 steps to the 15th century Lantern Tower rooftop to see breath-taking views of the city. Each aspect of the tower reveals a unique story of the heritage and people of Newcastle upon Tyne.

This is a challenging tour; you must be physically fit, and able to climb stairs to undertake this tour.
