DESCRIPTION:Join us to celebrate the Festival of the Presentation of Christ in the Temple (Candlemas)\, with beautiful music from the Cathedral Choir. \nThe feast of the Presentation of Christ in the Temple\, or Candlemas\, is the final feast day in the season of Epiphany. This feast lands on 2 February\, falling exactly 40 days after Christmas\, and brings to a close the full celebration of Jesus’ infancy narratives from Christmas through the Epiphany season. It is the final Epiphany when Jesus is revealed as the “light for revelation to the Gentiles” and our Saviour. \nThis scene is depicted in a window by C.E. Kempe & Co. in the Cathedral’s South Aisle. (Photo courtesy of Iona Art Glass.) \nCandlemas marks the turning point of the Christian Year. It is the point where we stop\, looking back on the celebrations of Jesus’ coming at Christmas and looking forward\, moving towards Jesus’ passion. We turn from birth towards death and resurrection. DESCRIPTION:Join us for our Sung Eucharist on the Feast of Epiphany\, a time to reflect on the many ways Jesus brings light to the world\, with beautiful music from the Cathedral Choir. \nThis day marks the revelation of Jesus Christ to the Wise Men – also known as the Magi – who journeyed to Bethlehem\, guided by a star\, to worship the newborn King. \nThe Feast of Epiphany invites us into a profound celebration of divine revelation and the light of Christ shining for all. \nThis service will also be live-streamed via our YouTube channel (see below). \n \nClick here to read and follow along with the Order of Service (PDF). \nAll services are FREE to attend; no pre-booking required.

DESCRIPTION:Small Sounds is Newcastle Cathedral’s lively\, welcoming music-making group for children aged 0–5 and their grown-ups. \nJoin us every Tuesday morning during term time\, 10:15–10:45am\, for a joyful introduction to music. These FREE\, interactive sessions are specially designed for babies\, toddlers and preschoolers\, and are generously funded by the Cathedral Music Trust. \nLed by trained session leaders in the stunning main space of the Cathedral\, Small Sounds is open to families of all backgrounds and faiths. \nTo help us prepare for your first visit\, we ask grown-ups to register online or call TicketSource in advance. (Adult supervision is always required for children attending Small Sounds.) Please note: You only need to book in advance ahead of the first session you plan to attend. \n\nAlongside Small Sounds\, we also run weekly after-school music programmes during term time: \n\nMini ChoriStarters – for children in Reception and Year 1\nChoriStarters – for children in Year 2\n\nIf your child would like to join either of these groups\, please email music@newcastlecathedral.org.uk for more information.
