Our task is to communicate experience and ideas to others.”– Niels Bohr\, Nobel Prize Winner \nPride Month\, celebrated each June\, is a vibrant and inclusive time to honour the LGBTQI+ community – their history\, achievements\, and continued journey toward equality. \nAt Newcastle Cathedral\, we celebrate the significance of the Pride movement and its lasting impact on our shared cultural and social fabric. Our returning exhibition\, running throughout the summer and beyond Newcastle Pride weekend (Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July\, presented by Northern Pride)\, explores the deep connection between language and identity. \nAs part of the Pride Fringe programme\, we’re thrilled to welcome Northern Proud Voices – the North East’s largest and longest-running LGBTQI+ community choir – for an uplifting evening of pop and rock favourites. \nJoin us on Friday 4 July at 7pm for a joyful celebration of music and community. SUMMARY:Petertide Ordinations 2025 - Priest's Ordination
DESCRIPTION:The Petertide Ordinations for the Diocese of Newcastle take place around St Peter’s Day. These services mark the initiation of new deacons into the journey of priesthood and the ordination of priests. \nThis year’s priests will be ordained on Saturday 28 June and Tuesday 1 July\, and we will welcome this year’s deacons on Sunday 29 June. \nOur soon-to-be deacons will serve their titles in parishes across our Diocese. SUMMARY:Northern Proud Voices Cathedral Concert 2025
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an uplifting evening of pop and rock hits performed by Northern Proud Voices\, the North East’s largest and longest-running LGBTQIA+ choir. \nSince 2011\, the choir has provided a safe and supportive space for members to connect through music\, reducing social isolation and promoting overall well-being. Expect a setlist of feel-good and meaningful anthems — last year’s programme included ‘Mr Blue Sky’ by ELO\, ‘Tattoo’ by Loreen\, and ‘It’s a Sin’ by The Pet Shop Boys. \nAfter the concert\, enjoy refreshments and networking in the stunning Cathedral nave. \nTickets are available on a ‘Give As You Feel’ basis (suggested £8). \nProceeds will be shared equally between Northern Proud Voices and Newcastle Cathedral\, whose work includes the Cathedral Lantern Project\, which exists to walk and work alongside people facing difficult times. \nThis event is an official part of Northern Pride’s Fringe Festival\, leading up to Newcastle Pride on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July. \n              \nPride at Newcastle Cathedral
