DESCRIPTION:Please note: This exhibition will now close slightly earlier than originally advertised\, with its final day on Sunday 28 September\, to allow for essential maintenance. \nRevival Newcastle is a group of passionate people\, services and organisations who are working together to support anybody with a drug\, alcohol or addiction issue. \nTimed to celebrate Recovery Month during September\, this exhibition brings together powerful voices from individuals\, groups\, and the wider Newcastle recovery community. Through art\, writing\, and treasured objects\, people have shared their journeys of recovery – each piece a testament to courage\, creativity and hope. \nThese works remind us that recovery is not only possible\, but is happening all around us\, every day\, in many different ways. They speak of resilience\, transformation\, and the strength that flourishes within community. By amplifying these voices\, the exhibition seeks to challenge stigma and offer encouragement to all who are beginning or continuing their own recovery journey. \nThis exhibition is supported by the Cathedral Lantern Project\, which exists to walk and work alongside people experiencing difficult circumstances in life. \nThe Cathedral Lantern Project

SUMMARY:Pop Up Choir: The Bridge Singers 10th Anniversary Concert
DESCRIPTION:Join The Bridge Singers\, a community choir of around 50 voices directed by Cheryl Camm\, for a pop-up concert in the Cathedral Nave. Founded in July 2015 and based in the villages of Felton and West Thirston in Northumberland\, the choir performs music in a wide variety of styles – from classical and folk to popular – and strives to include a balance of these in every concert. \nThe 2025–2026 season marks the choir’s 10th anniversary\, with a series of special events planned for both singers and audiences. Their performance at Newcastle Cathedral is the first of these celebrations. Throughout the anniversary year\, the choir will revisit favourite pieces from the 300 works they have sung since their formation. Earlier this year\, members voted on their top choices\, ranging from Rachmaninov to Queen\, some of which appear in today’s programme. \nThis concert is FREE to attend\, though donations are warmly welcomed to help the Cathedral continue supporting and hosting community groups and choirs. \nClick here to donate to support the Cathedral’s work.

SUMMARY:Evensong with Commissioning of LGBTQI+ Volunteer Chaplains
DESCRIPTION:  \nBishop Helen-Ann will commission two new LGBTQI+ volunteer chaplains\, Izzy McDonald-Booth and David Casati\, at a special Evensong on Sunday 21 September. Izzy and David will work in the Diocese of Newcastle’s LGBTQI+ Chaplaincy alongside Lead Chaplain\, Revd Emma Duff. \nCommenting on the appointment\, David said\, “It is important for me to be visible as a queer person in the Church and to encourage the gifts and ministries of LGBTQI+ people in our Diocese. I envisage a flexible ministry\, made of discernment\, listening\, presence\, teamwork and vision.” \nIzzy commented: “The chaplaincy is here to make sure the Church lives out its promise to be a place for all people through advocacy and pastoral support wherever it’s needed.
