SUMMARY:Swing Into Christmas 2025 - The Down for the Count Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the festive season in style with the sensational Down for the Count Swing Orchestra for their much-loved annual show\, ‘Swing Into Christmas’! \nThis is a Christmas spectacular like no other\, as Down for the Count’s 30-piece big band with strings is one of the largest swing bands currently touring the UK. Directed by conductor and compère Mike Paul-Smith and featuring some of the UK’s top vocalists and instrumentalists\, the orchestra recreates the sounds of Nat King Cole\, Ella Fitzgerald\, Frank Sinatra and Billie Holiday in a uniquely joyful and engaging performance which has endeared the ensemble to audiences up and down the country. \nAudiences of all ages will be captivated by stunning performances of iconic songs including The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting)\, I’ve Got You Under My Skin\, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas\, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year and New York\, New York\, alongside many fantastic new song selections for the 2025 show – all performed in authentic big-band-with-strings style. \nThe Down for the Count Swing Orchestra is one of the UK’s most highly regarded vintage ensembles\, having sold out shows at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club\, The London Jazz Festival\, Cadogan Hall\, and many other prestigious venues. DESCRIPTION:The Northern Doctors Chorus is the North East’s choir for doctors\, medical students\, and allied health professionals. \nJoin us for their first-ever Christmas concert at Newcastle Cathedral – an evening filled with carols\, seasonal music and festive cheer. All profits from the concert will be donated to charity. \nDuring the interval and before the concert\, refreshments will be available\, with donations supporting the Friends of St Nicholas — an independent membership group and registered charity dedicated to promoting\, enhancing\, and preserving the Cathedral’s heritage. \nPlease note: \n\nDoors will open at 6:30pm\, with all seating on a general admission\, first-come\, first-served basis on the night. There will be plenty of seats for everyone\, but we recommend arriving early to secure the best available seats.\nThis concert is hosted by an external organisation\, and booking fees may apply.\nTicket queries\, including access and carer tickets\, should be directed to the Northern Doctors Chorus via Eventbrite.\nDiscounts are available for concessions\, including NHS staff.
