SUMMARY:Peter Rabbit™: Tales on the Tyne – A Citywide Wild in Art Event in Support of St Oswald's Hospice
DESCRIPTION:In summer 2026\, a vibrant new free public art trail will bring colour and creativity to the streets\, parks and public spaces of Newcastle and North Tyneside — and we’re delighted to be part of the fun! We’ll share more about the Cathedral’s involvement as we get closer to the time. \nPeter Rabbit™: Tales on the Tyne is presented by and raising funds for St Oswald’s Hospice. The charity has partnered with creative producers Wild in Art\, The World of Peter Rabbit and Headline Partners Newcastle City Council to bring you a free\, inclusive art adventure that the whole family can enjoy. \nFollowing the success of Great North Snowdogs in 2016\, Elmer’s Great North Parade in 2019\, and Shaun on the Tyne in 2023. St Oswald’s Hospice’s fourth art trail will celebrate the charity’s 40th birthday and Beatrix Potter’s 160th anniversary. From Wednesday 15 July – Monday 14 September 2026\, Newcastle and North Tyneside will be transformed by the arrival of super-sized sculptures inspired by the much-loved character created by Beatrix Potter\, Peter Rabbit. Located alongside some of the city’s most iconic landmarks\, each Peter Rabbit sculpture will be uniquely designed by artists from the region and beyond\, providing a fun\, family-friendly art trail for locals and visitors to follow. \nA series of smaller ‘Little Peter’ sculptures\, adopted and painted by schools and community groups\, will also be displayed as part of the adventure. A trail map and App will navigate avid art adventurers across the trail\, which will be accessible via public transport\, helping you discover each sculpture and unlock a series of rewards and fun facts. \nWhilst exciting and inspiring people of all ages to celebrate our beautiful city through creativity\, the trail will also increase public awareness about hospice care and its importance and impact on our whole community. When the trail ends\, the large Peter Rabbit sculptures will be auctioned to raise funds for St Oswald’s Hospice. \nPeter Rabbit™: Tales on the Tyne is the perfect summer holiday activity\, free for all and packed full of outdoor adventure. And by getting involved\, you’ll be showing your support to the patients and families who rely on the care of St Oswald’s Hospice.
