SUMMARY:Mothers’ Union Monthly Midday Prayers and Eucharist
DESCRIPTION:2026 is a landmark anniversary year for Mothers’ Union\, the global Christian movement that has supported families and strengthened communities in the UK and around the world for 150 years. With four million members across 84 countries\, Mothers’ Union serves people of all faiths and backgrounds through practical action\, prayer\, and advocacy. \nThe Diocese of Newcastle was among the first to welcome Mothers’ Union shortly after its own founding in 1882. Emily Wilberforce\, wife of Newcastle’s first Bishop\, became the inaugural MU President. In more recent years\, MU Presidents in the diocese have also held the honorary role of Lay Canon at the Cathedral. \nMembers gather on the first Thursday of each month for Midday Prayers in St George’s Chapel at the Cathedral and are warmly invited to stay for the 12:30pm Eucharist. If gin and rum isn’t for you\, you can also choose from seasonal cocktails\, authentic sipping tequilas\, beer\, and fizz! \nThe income generated from events like this plays a vital role in sustaining the Cathedral for the entire community and in supporting our charitable work. \nPlease note: \n\nYou can book for one of two different time slots\, enabling entry from 12:15pm until 4:30pm or 6pm until 10:30pm.\nFor individuals aged 18 and above.
