Experience the vibrant world of ‘yarn bombing’ – a unique art form that transforms public spaces with colourful knitted and crocheted creations.
This October, the Heaton Hookers are bringing this spirit of creativity to the columns, arches and inner décor of the Cathedral. Following the success of their decoration of our Illuminated Sheep last month, we couldn’t resist their latest ‘baa-rilliant’ idea!
Founded in 2022, the Heaton Hookers is a craft group from the East End of Newcastle dedicated to fostering friendships and community through their shared passion for crochet, knitting, and fibre arts. They welcome members of all skill levels and offer a space to meet new people, explore new techniques, and exchange skills and inspiration.
The results of the yarn bombing will be available to view for several weeks in October, including the ‘Illuminated Sheep’ evenings on Tuesday 22, Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 October.
