‘Churchyard Mysteries’ Tours – The Late Shows 2026

FREEThe Late Shows, an award-winning free after-hours culture crawl, will return to Newcastle’s Ouseburn Valley on Friday 8 May, and to venues across Ouseburn Valley, Gateshead, and central Newcastle on Saturday 9 May 2026.
This year, you can step into the stories of the past with a fascinating tour through the Cathedral churchyard. Was Queen Victoria truly unamused by her visits to Newcastle? Why does a ‘Vampire Rabbit’ overlook the Cathedral? And are the legends true that a pirate is buried in the Cathedral grounds?
Delve into these mysteries on this fun-filled mini-tour, which lasts approximately 20 minutes. Pre-booking is essential, as spaces are limited.
This tour is fully accessible for wheelchair users and follows a circular route, starting and ending at the statue of Queen Victoria in St Nicholas Square, NE1 1PF.
Please note: Newcastle Cathedral’s interior, including toilet facilities, will not be accessible during The Late Shows 2025.
