Our services online

We are delighted to be able to offer some Cathedral worship and a series of reflections and prayers online to help us to worship together at this difficult time.

Sunday Worship

Our next service of Sunday Worship will go live on our YouTube channel at 10am on 20 June 2021.

‘In Storm and in Silence…’ – Worship for the Third Sunday after Trinity – 20 June 2021

Join us for worship from the comfort and safety of your home, as we reflect the importance of listening for the “still small voice” of God’s calm, in every circumstance of life. The preacher, on this, his last Sunday with us, is the Rev’d Thomas Sharp. Music sung by our choirs includes a Gloria and the Salvator Mundi by Thomas Tallis.

Telephone Line

The Cathedral’s Sunday morning worship, which can be followed here: tinyurl.com/NclCathedral, is now also available to listen to, for those who do not have internet access, for the cost of a local phonecall. The number to ring is 0191 814 4142 and each week’s service will be uploaded by 12 noon every Sunday. Please pass this number on to anyone who might value it.

Choral Evensong

Join the ministry team and choir of Newcastle Cathedral online for Choral Evensong, with a reflection on Gospel of the Day. Scroll down to view our most recent services. For the full video library please click here.

Please note: Choral Evensong might not always take place throughout June 2021 while the final stages of our renovation are underway.

Virtual Church Choir

As a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, our Canon for Music and Liturgy, has brought together a ‘Virtual Church Choir’ of volunteer singers from churches across the region.

Recording their voices remotely, at home, they are being mixed together to provide three or four hymns each week for use in the Cathedral’s online worship – and by anyone else who would find them useful.

The “Virtual Church Choir” recordings can be found here: https://tinyurl.com/VirtualChurchChoir

New tracks will be added to this folder as they are recorded each week – usually on a Saturday morning. Some will also come as a set of Powerpoint slides that can be used if you ‘share screen’ in a Zoom service.

Anyone, of any denomination, is welcome to download and use them as long as they have the appropriate copyright licenses. We hope you find them useful.
