Worship for the Second Sunday of Easter – 11 April 2021 – available now on YouTube. As we remember and give thanks for the life of the Duke of Edinburgh, who died this week, today’s worship is preceded by a video message and prayers from the Right Revd Christine Hardman, Bishop of Newcastle. The preacher on this Second Sunday of Easter is Cathedral Reader, Katherine Govier. Music includes organ voluntaries by Bach and Widor, some well-loved Easter hymns, plus our choristers’ poignant rendering of ‘Now the Green Blade Riseth’, recorded from their homes.

Virtual Church Choir
As a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, our Canon for Music and Liturgy, has brought together a ‘Virtual Church Choir’ of volunteer singers from churches across the region.
Recording their voices remotely, at home, they are being mixed together to provide three or four hymns each week for use in the Cathedral’s online worship – and by anyone else who would find them useful.
The “Virtual Church Choir” recordings can be found here: https://tinyurl.com/VirtualChurchChoir
New tracks will be added to this folder as they are recorded each week – usually on a Saturday morning. Some will also come as a set of Powerpoint slides that can be used if you ‘share screen’ in a Zoom service.
Anyone, of any denomination, is welcome to download and use them as long as they have the appropriate copyright licenses. We hope you find them useful.
