Welcome to The Revd Canon Ruth Hulse!

Published 15 July 2024

At Choral Evensong on Saturday 13 July, the Cathedral community gathered in celebration and prayer to witness The Revd Ruth Hulse being collated and installed as the Residentiary Canon for Worship and Congregational Life.

Ruth has lately served as Team Rector of the West Hereford Team Ministry for the last eleven years and has been a non-residentiary Canon at Hereford Cathedral.

Ruth writes, “I am excited by the possibilities that lie ahead in both the Cathedral and the Diocese. I’m looking forward to getting to know the people of the Cathedral community and the city and seeing where God leads us as we share this next chapter together.

“The core values at Newcastle Cathedral of radical welcome, inspiring worship and empowering worth reflect, for me, how Jesus lived, what he taught, and the hope he brings. I look forward to sharing these values with the Cathedral community as we join in with what God is already doing, and as we live out our faith together.”

The service of ‘Choral Evensong with the Collation and Installation of The Revd Ruth Hulse’ is available on YouTube until the afternoon of Saturday 20 July.
