The Nave is the central and most spacious part of the Cathedral. With its high vaulted ceilings, grand columns, and historic ambience, it is perfect for large gatherings, including performances and conferences.
Flexible seating allows the Nave to accommodate hundreds of guests, with the exact capacity depending on the specific requirements of your event.
The South Transept, St George’s Chapel and the Eastern Chapels offer serene and reflective atmospheres for more intimate, quieter events.
These spaces can be cordoned off and can host up to approximately 50 guests.
Café 16, located within Cathedral Hall (a 1920s extension to the Cathedral with an attractive decorative ceiling) provides a welcoming space for casual meetings, social events and receptions.
The café, operated by the Northumberland charity the Oswin Project, can accommodate up to around 40 guests. For venue hire enquiries, please contact the café via the Oswin Project website.
The Education Room and Icon Room are small but versatile spaces suitable for workshops, meetings and community events. They offer modern facilities and flexible seating arrangements
These spaces can be adapted to suit various event types and have a capacity of up to approximately 20 guests.
