On Thursday 7 August, the Diocese of Newcastle Mothers’ Union will gather for their monthly Midday Prayers. Following this, attendees are invited to the Cathedral’s Eucharist at 12:30pm to acknowledge Mary Sumner Day, which occurs on 9 August.
Mary Sumner was the founder of the Mothers’ Union in 1876, dedicated to supporting families and giving a voice to disadvantaged women.
The service will also welcome new members and include the blessing of new kneelers lovingly stitched by members for the Cathedral’s Chapel of the Resurrection.
The MU’s Cathedral trail leaflets will be available afterwards, as will refreshments in Café 16.
