Keeping the spirit of St Nicholas alive

The Friends of St Nicholas is an independent charity (registered charity no.1053260) fundraising to maintain, beautify and celebrate the heritage of Newcastle Cathedral. Its name comes from the Cathedral’s patron saint, famed for his generosity and charitable giving.

The Friends have recently contributed to restoring the Cathedral’s antique virge (pictured below) to its former glory. They also made possible the Cathedral’s latest guidebook and the striking new ‘liturgical furniture’, which you’ll see used in weekly services.
